Title: "Out of Reach, Yet Close at Heart"
October 17, 2018
"From Confession to Compassion; From Shame to Acclaim."
Many Orthodox Jews living with complex trauma and dissociative identity disorder (DID) appear deeply devoted to their faith and community, yet hide internal struggles few can see. This talk draws on personal experience and client stories to explore the hidden battles beneath religious devotion — the internal conflicts, dissociation, and pain that often remain invisible. We will reflect on the tension between outward observance and inner fracture, and discuss how communities can better recognize and hold space for those silently struggling. This session invites empathy, awareness, and meaningful conversation about trauma’s hidden impact within Orthodox Jewish life.
